Lauren
As a dancer from a young age, I came to Pilates over 20 years ago with my own systematic injuries and illness. Discovering Pilates’ potential to create healthy, powerful and intelligent bodies, I eventually certified as an instructor with The Kane School in New York, NY nearly 15 years ago.
In addition to working with professional dancers and athletes, I have extensive experience with rehabilitation, pain management and improving mobility for those with impairments.
I have particular training in lower back pain and injury, gait reconditioning,
pregnancy and post-natal, and neurological conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
I also have experience working with cerebral palsy, Marfan syndrome, lung diseases, endometriosis, hip and knee replacement rehabilitation, and numerous other conditions.
I also love to work with people who are simply looking for a movement practice to develop their strength, flexibility and coordination!
My approach focuses on anatomy, biomechanics, healthy technique, and body awareness, in order to assist my clients’ achieve their full movement potential. I use all classical Pilates equipment – the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel, and even the newest apparatus, the CoreAlign, and I occasionally use various manual techniques to further help a client learn, heal or release unnecessary tension.
I firmly believe in the transformational power of Pilates, and I hope to be able to share that experience with you.
Classes
Introductory Session
Side-by-Side Sessions
One-to-One Sessions
Every new client will have a private introductory session lasting 55 minutes. This allows me to get to know your body, your needs, and your goals, and create a route map for your future Pilates experience. We can decide together whether one-to-one or side-by-side sessions are best for you.
Side-by-Side Sessions are essentially private sessions that overlap, lasting 55 minutes. Teaching 2 to 3 clients at once is a great penny-saver for you, but also brings a dynamic energy into the studio. But rather than teach a group class, I prefer to treat every body individually, providing each client with their own experience and programme. This is my favourite way to teach!
One-to-One Sessions are great for those that feel more comfortable exercising in a private environment. With a one-to-one, you receive uninterrupted attention and a beautiful studio all to yourself (apart from me!). These sessions also allow more time for the inclusion of manual therapies as part of your 55-minute lesson.
